Deloitte halved its print devices with Kyocera managed document services

Printing costs were spiralling while the firm relied more and more on digital documents. An audit and a smaller fleet of colour multifunction devices turned that around.

  • Where: Kenya
  • What: Kyocera TASKalfa colour multifunction devices, Equitrac Office

This is a Kyocera Document Solutions case study about Deloitte in Kenya. It is not an Omni Technologies installation; it shows what Kyocera's managed document services approach can achieve.

The results

  • ~50%Fewer document output devices
  • -20%Paper consumption
  • LowerPrinting costs

The challenge

Deloitte's print fleet no longer matched its growing reliance on digital documents, and printing costs were out of control. The firm wanted more management control over printing, streamlined back-office work, high-quality documents and lower costs, while promoting supplier diversity and environmental responsibility.

What was done

  • A detailed audit of the printing environment, mapping staff needs and the limits of the existing fleet, leading to a company-specific plan.
  • Seven new colour multifunction systems (TASKalfa 400ci and 300ci), because client reports and presentations made document quality the key factor.
  • Document accounting software (Equitrac Office) embedded on the devices, so the control panel serves as a release station, for accountability and data security.

What changed

  • Optimum use of the colour multifunction devices.
  • Better accountability for every document produced.
  • High-quality output that meets the company's objectives.

“We are now able to present a consistent, high quality image to the market that is in line with our business objectives of offering exceptional management solutions to our clients.”

Simon Njuguna, Regional Manager EA Information Technology, Deloitte Kenya
